Edward Wright (1912-88)

I stumbled on this image above in a book about 50’s & 60’s art in Britain. The artwork is by Edward Wright (1912-88) a designer, artist, writer and teacher. Katherine Gillieson writes in a review of an exhibition back in 2007 (link) that “His work is incredibly diverse,……….Such variety of interests, inspirations and accomplishments may partly account for his relative obscurity”.
One more interesting thing i learnt about Edward Wright is that he designed the iconic New Scotland Yard sign, below. There is an interesting article about the sign at http://www.lunascafe.org/2011/07/restoring-scotland-yard-to-wright-stuff.html
