Henry Marvell Carr

This painting is by the splendidly named Henry Marvell Carr (1894-1970). It’s one of a whole series of murals by the artist on exhibition in the 1853 Gallery at Salts Mill, Bradford. The series shows the story of wool on a number of eccentrically shaped canvases. What I loved in this particular painting is the bands of colour (the coloured cloth) across the central part of the painting. Marvellous!
